Position: Principal Database Administrator

Description: Cymertek is looking for a Principal Database Administrator to join our Dream Team. The Database Administrator would be responsible for administering an enterprise shared database to support enterprise business systems. The resources will work with Senior Technologist to provide technical guidance to both Project Managers and other Applications Developers during the development process.

Clearance Requirement: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph

Required Skills/Education
  • Individual is acknowledged as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the occupation and/or specific skill.
  • At least sixteen (16) years of demonstrated experience specific to the skill or occupation.
  • Shall be capable of mentoring or training other team members and sharing their expertise within and across contracts, organizational boundaries, and with Customers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related information technology discipline considered in lieu of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with the following:
  • Developing scripts for the creation of the physical database schema(s), data security and protection, managing performance, performing backups/ restores, refreshes, and archiving data.
  • Designing, documenting and building physical database environments from table, column, index and view definitions to storage requirements and drive spacing and growth accommodations.
  • Designing and documenting data security and asset protection techniques that meet business requirements.
  • Managing, monitoring and administering database and system performance. Including optimization and tuning of data loads, extractions and recommending appropriate procedure, query or package changes and optimizations to ensure and improve system performance and reliability.
  • UNIX shell scripting.
  • MySQL, Oracle 11g, and Linux.
  • Implementing COTS products into an Enterprise Database.
  • Servers operating systems (Windows, Linux, AIX, UNIX and Solaris).
  • Planning schedules, requirements, technical work and customer needs and expectations.
Desired Skills/Education
  • Demonstrated experience with the following:
  • Communicating tasks being worked and any impediments that may develop.
  • Agile development methodology.
  • SharePoint and WIKI websites for reference documentation.
  • Principles of Large-Scale Database Development, Large-Scale file manipulation, data modeling, data mapping, data testing, data quality, and documentation preparation.
  • Creating logical data models and translating into physical database structures that integrate with existing or proposed shared database structures.
